FAQs

What does a session look like?

At the beginning of every 1h session, we will have a brief review to reflect on what has happened since our last session. You will bring a new topic to each session and I will help you become clear on what you want to achieve. My questions help you to think things through. At the beginning of our coaching journey we create and agree on an overall coaching plan for our time together. This helps us navigate towards your desired goal and ensures that you will get the most out of every session.

How long does coaching take?

A normal coaching journey usually takes us through a minimum of six sessions. During the first three weeks, we will have one session per week to build trust. Switching to a bi-weekly schedule for sessions four to six gives you more time to process your new insights, and to practise new behaviour. In most cases we will work at least two to three months together.

How do I achieve my desired outcome?

We will find what your desired outcome is and why it matters to you. We will create a coaching plan to help navigate us through our coaching. Think of it as a map for your coaching journey. As your coach, I will make sure you focus on the main route and not get lost on side paths. In every session you will become more aware of what changes are required to take the next step. The co-active coaching approach puts the responsibility for taking action on you. My role is to facilitate the process, to hold the space, and to ask you questions that support you.

I want change now. Can we do it quicker?

No. With coaching you commit to take time for yourself to reflect on what is important to you. Change cannot happen in a hurry and needs time to settle. During and after each session, you come up with new perspectives that you can integrate into your life. This will build your confidence and motivate you to take action. As you will see, change will happen along the way.

Can I get your advice on a certain topic?

I believe that asking you questions is a better way for you to find out what you want. I do not need to be an expert in your field. In fact, it may be even better to have someone asking you questions who has a different perspective than yours. It allows you let go of the details and gain new perspectives. As a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), I am committed to not giving advice.

“I felt uncertain about embarking on the coaching journey, but Romy made me feel very comfortable. I discovered a totally new way of thinking and having the coach fully listening and returning my own words and thoughts was very powerful. I love Romy’s dedication, her patience and gentleness.”
